How to rug check a Solana token
A rug pull is when the people behind a token take the money and leave: they pull the liquidity, mint new tokens, or sell a large hidden bag. Most of the warning signs are visible on-chain before you buy. These are the checks MemeViewAI's Rug Check runs, and what each one means.
- Mint authority. If it's still active, the creator can create new tokens and dilute everyone. You want "revoked".
- Freeze authority. If it's active, the creator can freeze your tokens so you can't sell. MemeViewAI leaves these tokens out of its Solana list entirely.
- Liquidity. Check whether the pool's liquidity is locked or burned. Unlocked liquidity can be pulled at any time, leaving the token impossible to sell.
- Holder concentration. Look at the top 10 holders and the largest wallet, leaving out the liquidity pool. When the top 10 or one wallet holds more than 30%, a few people can crash the price. MemeViewAI flags it.
- The launch. Bundled buys in the launch block, wallets linked to the creator (insiders) and very early snipers often sell into the first buyers. Check how much of the supply they still hold.
- The developer. Does the creator's wallet still hold a large share, or has it sold? How many other tokens has it launched, and did any of them rug?
- Trading activity and age. Very new pairs (under three days) and thin trading are easier to manipulate. Real, steady volume matters more than a fast pump.
What a check can't tell you
No check sees coordinated selling, fake hype or the next new trick. A clean report means no major red flags were found in the data available, not that a token is safe.
How MemeViewAI does it
Rug Check (part of Pro) runs these checks from RugCheck.xyz, DexScreener, DeFade and on-chain data, and gives a score from 0 to 100: under 40 is High risk, 40–69 Caution, and Low risk only when every source answered. Tokens that reached 10× also show, on their milestone page, the check saved when MemeViewAI called them.
